Funerals & Processions :

Realizing the importance of Muslim burial facilities in a predominantly non-Muslim country, the Masjid Board in 1982 acquired 5 acres of land to establish a Muslim cemetery. This facility (burial capacity of 2,000) is one of the very few Muslim cemeteries available in this country. To date, approximately 300 Muslims from various parts of the country have been buried in this cemetery.

The role of this department is a unique one. In this society, when one of the brothers or sisters from this community is taken by Allah, many times their family members are not Muslims. Masjid Omar Bin Abdul Aziz then makes it their responsibility to see to it that the deceased is buried properly according to the correct teachings of Islam. The masjid will wash the body and make the preparations for the body to be transported to the burial ground. In many of these cases, the masjid will take care of the cost relating which usually surpasses the $3000.00 range.
