The Salat or Prayer:

The foundation to Masjid Omar Bin Abdul Aziz is the Salat and therefore it was of utmost importance to have it established first by setting up the times for the five daily prayers and holding on tight to preserving them so that those in the community are able to always have place to establish their prayer that is based upon the Truth.

To give more of a detailed understanding, the masjid opens its doors every day beginning with the first Salat of Fajr and remaining open for worshippers all the way through to Salat I’sha. This is to remind all the worshippers that prayer --this great and heavy act of worship is open to them in the house of Allah. The Masjid then in turn, becomes a place of peace and tranquility where worshippers can retreat from their everyday routines.

AlhumdulliAllah, the number of the Muslims has since increased and the ranks are expanding beyond our expectations.

Narrated Ziyad bin'Ilaqa:

I heard Jarir bin 'Abdullah (Praising Allah). On the day when Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba died, he (Jarir) got up (on the pulpit) and thanked and praised Allah and said, "Be afraid of Allah alone Who has none along with Him to be worshipped.(You should) be calm and quiet till the (new) chief comes to you and he will come to you soon. Ask Allah's forgiveness for your (late) chief because he himself loved to forgive others." Jarir added, "Amma badu (now then), I went to the Prophet and said, 'I give my pledge of allegiance to you for Islam." The Prophet conditioned (my pledge) for me to be sincere and true to every Muslim so I gave my pledge to him for this. By the Lord of this mosque! I am sincere and true to you (Muslims). Then Jarir asked for Allah's forgiveness and came down (from the pulpit).
